about

‘Rigor Mortis’ – composed by the band’s drummer Matt Parkinson – is underpinned by a Radiohead inspired post-rock groove, highlighting Matt’s unwavering sense of time and momentum behind the kit.

The lyrical melody is enriched by Robin’s ‘strong personal sound [on the saxophone]’ (Kit Downes), which is accompanied by Jack Gillen’s guitar part binding and completing the texture.

Carefully crafted effects augment exploratory guitar and saxophone solos, and together with refined inflections from the drums, there is a tremendous sense of build towards a peak at the final chorus.

This debut single from the band – whilst still paying homage to a growing tradition of sax, guitar, and drums line-up – is a bold and individual track that firmly places the band’s sound in the present day.
